Considering Others (Part 1)

Gather together as a family, or with a friend.

Take some time to consider the people around you who might be experiencing life’s challenges and struggles—a co-worker, classmate, family member, neighbor or friend.

Each person think about someone in specific and share their name out loud.
What might they be struggling with?

Now, everyone take 10–15 minutes to call, text, or e-mail each person.
You might say something like, “You were just on my mind today and I wanted to call and encourage you!”

Re-gather and report.
How did your friends react? Celebrate together about your positive impact!

Take the next step!

This week, take to the streets with what you just learned.
How can you express care to others in a tangible way? Here are some ideas, but feel free to get creative and come up with your own:
  • Mowing a widow’s lawn
  • Paying a visit to a shut in
  • Inviting neighbors for a cookout
  • Delivering sweets to a neighbor
  • Volunteering at a homeless shelter
  • Reaching out to a “lonely” friend
